20 Ways to Improve Your Alexa Site Rank

Alexa.com is a subsidiary of Amazon.com and is a web site that provides information about Web site traffic levels. Alexa ranking is measured by number of users who have visited the website with the Alexa toolbar installed.

In this article, I will try to discuss the importance of Alexa Rank related to the monetization of the site while also briefly discusses some of the drawbacks in using the Alexa Rank for measuring traffic of any website.
I'll give you 20 tips and strategies you can use to increase your Alexa Rank dramatically in the short and long term.

What is Alexa Rank?
Basically, the Alexa Rank is a ranking system based on the ranking scheme level visits to the site of the number of people visiting a website with the Alexa toolbar installed.

Here are definitions from Alexa Alexa Rank:

The traffic rank is based on three months of aggregated historical traffic data from millions of Alexa Toolbar users and is a combined measure of page views and users (reach). As a first step, Alexa computes the reach and number of page views for all sites on the Web on a daily basis.
The main Alexa traffic rank is based on the geometric mean of these two quantities averaged over time (so that the rank of a site reflects both the number of users who visit that site as well as the number of pages on the site viewed by those users)
Why do you want to increase your site's Alexa ranking?
Webmasters, advertisers and ads networks use Alexa ranking of your site as a measure to determine the value of a link on your website.

The problem with Alexa Rank
Sites that have a lot of webmasters will further increase the Alexa ranking. This is because webmasters are much more likely to have the Alexa toolbar on the browser rather than a site that visitors are not familiar with Alexa at all.

Therefore, many of which showed that Alexa is a very accurate method to measure the achievement of the site, site traffic and site potential. Alexa is a ridiculous way to measure web traffic, but unfortunately the world Alexa is still widely used by webmasters and ad networks to measure the value of advertising on a site.

20 Ways to Improve Your Alexa Rank
Here is a collection of methods you can use to improve your site's Alexa ranking. Most of these tips are derived from several fellow webmasters.

  1. Install the Alexa toolbar or extension SearchStatus in Firefox. And set your website as the homepage on your computer. There are two easy ways to install the Alexa toolbar. If you are using Internet Explorer, download the Alexa toolbar for Firefox or SearchStatus extension that will display the Alexa Rank, Google Rank, as well as other useful features.
  2. Attach Rank Alexa widget on your site. According to some circles, if the widget is clicked by visitors who have not installed the Alexa toolbar, then it will be counted as additional visits.
  3. Invite friends and target your site visitors to install the Alexa toolbar.
  4. Working in office or in internet cafe? If possible, install the Alexa toolbar on all existing computer and set your website as his homepage. It would be useful if the IP that is used is dynamic.
  5. Ask your friends to review and gave the rating profile of your site on Alexa. I have found no evidence, but may be useful in this way.
  6. Write articles related to Alexa. Webmaster and bloggers love to know how to improve its Alexa. They will backlink your writing and sending traffic. This directly affects the Alexa ranking of your site.
  7. Display your URL in webmaster forums. Webmasters usually have installed the Alexa toolbar in their browser and if they are interested in clicking on your URL, then this is an advantage for you.
  8. Write articles related to webmasters. For example, the topic of SEO and buying and selling domain that is in great demand by the webmasters (bloggers or site owners). Promote your articles on webmaster forums and social networking sites.
  9. Use Alexa redirects your blog's URL. Try to open this page: http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?www.comcom.com. Replace comcom with your site URL. Use this URL as your signature and also commented on some forums. This redirect will count a unique IP address once a day only. There has been no formal evidence for this way, so use this carefully.
  10. Active in the site or the Asian social networking forums. Some have said that East Asia has a very large number of the Alexa toolbar users. This is evidenced by several blogs or websites from East Asia into the Alexa Top 500.
  11. Create a page about the webmaster tools on your blog. It is a magnet for webmasters to visit many times to your blog.
  12. Register on Digg or StumbleUpon. Both of these sites could send tens of thousands of visitors when your articles appear on the front page.
  13. Use PaPperClick. This is done by paid ads on Google or the other.
  14. Create an Alexa category on your site and use it to save an article or news relating to Alexa.
  15. Optimize popular topic on your site. Do you have a popular topic that consistently receives traffic from search engines? Update these postings by clicking on the post Alexa or internal links to your URL Redirect.
  16. Buy banner ads and links from the forums. If your ad is interesting, this will significantly increase your site's Alexa ranking.
  17. Recruit people to promote your site. This can be done by paying a friend or member of a forum to promote your articles.
  18. Pay internet cafe owners to install the Alexa toolbar and set your sites on all computers in the cafe as the homepage.
  19. Active on MySpace, Facebook, and others. It worked for some people, but many do not succeed.
  20. Try Alexa auto-surfs. These tools generally useful for the new site and use carefully.
Of the 20 ways to improve Alexa rank, perhaps only a few that suit you, both in terms of time and cost. To increase Alexa rank in the long run, I think you still need to create articles that are useful for visitors to your blog, so you get many visitors and consistent ones.
